I’ve requested a commission, what happens now?

How are commissions priced?

As a commission is a bespoke project, pricing depends on the scale of the work.

The scale of the work is judged by the following factors: size, complexity of the composition, and the timeframe for delivery.

Next steps after accepting your request:

Step 1: Initial Consultation - either in person or through a video call.

During the consultation we will discuss your idea in more detail, it’s an opportunity for both of us to ask any further questions and to lay down the groundwork for step 2. Creating something you’re going to love is my priority, as such if during the consultation I feel that I am not the right artist to realise your idea, I will let you know and I will do my best to recommend another artist.

The first consultation is free.

Step 2: Preliminary sketches and commission confirmation.

Following the consultation, I will work on some sketches and concepts for your piece. Once those are ready I will send them through for your consideration and we will work together to make sure you are happy with the direction the artwork is taking before fully confirming the commission.

I charge a non-refundable flat fee of £150 for this step, which you’ll be required to pay in advance. This charge is then deducted from the 50% deposit that will be taken before starting the commission.

Step 3: Commission confirmation and 50% deposit.

Once we’ve agreed on the direction of the artwork, I will send you a commission contract and an invoice requesting a 50% deposit in order to start working on your piece. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable and work on your artwork will begin once your deposit has been received.

Step 4: Creating your artwork.

As soon as your deposit has been received, I will start creating your artwork. During the creation process I don’t usually provide visual progress updates of the work, but we will remain in communication to ensure that everything is going smoothly.

Step 5: Unveiling your artwork, final payment and delivery.

Once the artwork is completed, I will send you photos of the finished piece and we will arrange the next steps for ensuring safe delivery of the artwork to your chosen address. I will send you an invoice for the remaining 50% and once payment is received your artwork will be delivered.

Your artwork will arrive carefully packaged and with a signed and dated Certificate of Authenticity.
