Today, I'd like to show you the most recent painting in my Finding Closeness series, and also one of the biggest!
Brothers, 2021
Oil and phototransfer on canvas
122 x 152 cm
This painting is available to collect, email info@ariettachandris.com to enquire about it
Here it is! One of the most challenging paintings I have ever painted. I suspect this is because I actually know the people I am painting, so there's a bit more pressure (from me to myself) to get it right. I started work on this piece in mid 2019, and I fully completed it in July 2021! It took over 250 hours of work in total to complete, and to put things into perspective, about 75 of those hours was spent on the striped shirt alone.
As good as it looks in a photo, this is a painting that has a lot to offer when viewed up close. The text from the phototransfer peaks through in the background, and there's some really lovely textures created by this under the paint. If you're in London, and would like to come and say hi in person in my studio let me know by replying to this email!
Above are some detail shots of this piece, so that you can take a closer look. Next week I will be sharing the full artwork on my website and social media, where I will also be sharing a video showing the process of making, so I'll add a way for you to watch that when it's available.
Until then,
I hope you have a wonderful weekend.
Lots of love,
Arietta xx
